Allow Us To Introduce Ourselves!

Hi there!  Allow us to introduce ourselves.  Doug Cohen here writing on behalf of me, my wife Ally and my son Tony.  We are the new owners of Detroit Jerky!!!

We wanted to say hello, thanks for visiting the website and share a bit about us!

For starters, for those of you who know the founders of the company and inventors of Detroit Jerky, Scott and Katie Eatmon, we can tell you that they are doing just fine!  We’ve become friends and we are truly honored and thankful that they trusted us with this incredible brand they built.  They really nailed it – we were fans well before we acquired the company and as a matter of fact Ally was a Michigan Cherry Bomb taste tester a couple years back!

We’ve been married for almost 28 years and we have two adult kids Tony and Lacey – Lacey is a writer and lives in New York.  You can check out her website at www.LaceyCohen.com!  Tony is the CJO (Chief Jerky Officer) of Detroit Jerky.

We’ve kept almost everything the same – the jerky IS the same.  Scott trained us on the recipes and we’ve been making it at the same kitchen – Proud Mitten Shared Kitchen in Plymouth, MI.  We did change the logo just a bit… we gave the “D” in Detroit just a little bit of Olde English flava to make it a bit more Detroit, but other than that it’s the same plant-based, protein-packed, gluten-free deliciousness you’ve come to know and love.  And if you haven’t come to know and love it yet what are you waiting for?  No – I mean really.  WTF are you waiting for.  Don’t do that anymore.  Get some.

Anyhoo, we probably will have plenty more to say here, but we also want to hear from YOU.  Send us your stories, photos, recipes – anything that relates to Detroit Jerky – we may just share them on our social media or here at the website!  Like this bag opening reveal / review…

We may look for a guest blog post or two at some point and we envision even including some product photos on the site that come from our peeps!  Think a selfie holding a bag of Sweet Mesquite in front of Delicate Arch at Arches National Park for example…  That would be COOL.

The Cohens at Delicate Arch in 2023 without a bag of Sweet Mesquite in the photo - don't make that same mistake.

Yep – you’re going to get to know us.  And we want to get to know you!  You can actually see our entire trip at my website M10 Social at this link – it was pretty epic.  9 National Parks in two weeks and a bunch of other stuff including 3 presidents’ homes, but I digress….

As for Detroit Jerky it’s been one heck of an exhausting and damn exciting ride getting up to speed and cranking out enough jerky to turn on the proverbial OPEN sign here on the site and run events like the amazing All Things Detroit Day at Eastern Market!  There’s a palpable buzz about this wonderful vegan snack being given new life and we are thrilled to be the ones to carry it forward into the future!

So bop around and familiarize yourself with the site – there’s a lot more coming and shipping is FREE for orders of over $30 so you CAN order online without worrying about that (so you really have no excuse).

Every good blog post has a call to action, so here’s ours:
